A guide covering 25 European languages designed as a universal phrase-book. The book is in five sections, with each listing five languages with vocabulary and phrases. The sections are: 1. French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Rumanian; 2. German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian; 3. Russian, Polish, Czech, Serbo-Croat, Bulgarian; 4. Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian, Lettish, Lithuanian; 5. Greek, Albanian, Turkish, Arabic, Esperanto.

The author, Archibald Lyall (1904–1964), was a travel writer and lawyer, and served with SOE in the Second World War.

Condition

The book is in very good condition for age with clean pages and secure binding. The stylish dustwrapper has some light edgewear, it has not been price-clipped and remains quite striking.
