This copy belonged to Irene de Castillejo and has been signed by her to the front cover. Castillejo (1885–1967) was a writer and Jungian analyst. She fled Spain for Switzerland after the Civil War started and spent the war years in London. Returning to Switzerland, she began her studies in Jungian psychology in Zurich working with C G Jung, Emma Jung and Toni Wolff. On her return to London, she established a psychotherapy practice specialising in the role of women in the world of today, and is best remembered for her posthumously published classic Knowing Woman: A Feminine Psychology.
The first issue of the Journal of Analytical Psychology, the leading international Jungian publication, renowned for its emphasis on the clinical practice of in-depth analysis and its exploration of the relationship between analytical psychology and psychoanalysis.
