First trade edition. Hardback, bound in the original green cloth with gilt titling to spine. Top edge dyed, fore-edge untrimmed. 19.5 × 13cm, xxxii + 184pp.

A collection of Ezra Pound's poetry which had previously been published in a signed limited edition. It contains selections from Personae of Ezra Pound, Ripostes, Lustra, Cathay, H S Mauberley, and some early poems rejected by the author and omitted from his collected edition. The book is prefaced with a lengthy introduction by T S Eliot, who by this time was a director of Faber & Gwyer (later Faber & Faber).

Condition

A good copy. The cloth is a little rubbed and marked, and faded to the spine. The inner binding is secure, the pages slightly tanned but the whole remaining in strong readable condition, and an increasingly scarce Ezra Pound title.
