In 1914 a room full of German schoolboys, fresh-faced and idealistic, are goaded by their schoolmaster to troop off to the 'glorious war'. With the fire and patriotism of youth they sign up. What follows is the moving story of a young 'unknown soldier' experiencing the horror and disillusionment of life in the trenches.

Condition

A very good copy. The book is very clean and free from inscription, the pages are clean and the inner binding secure. minimal bumping to corners. Modern booksellers' ticket to rear pastedown, remains of older bookseller's ticket above it. The dustwrapper is very good for age, with a little tanning along the bottom edge of the front panel, a few small closed tears (the worst being 2cm to the rear), and light crinkling along the edges and light bumping to the wrapper's spine ends. However, it remains a very good survival of an attractive wrapper. As mentioned, the wrapper has not been price-clipped, and is now within a protective sleeve.
