Printing Details

First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 23 × 15cm, 424pp.

"The third book of Glubb Pasha's great Arab History begins at 860. It continues the story of The Empire of the Arabs, but is also adapted for reading as an independent, self-contained work on its own period. Over these centuries, the Arab Empire ran strikingly true to the pattern which can be traced in others, including our own: an underlying theme of considerable interest. Highlights of this volume are undoubtedly the history of Spain, a 'colony' which flourished in independence under strong rulers; and the First Crusade, seen here not from the European angle as a sudden isolated episode in Syria and Palestine, but in focus with the simultaneous warfare of Muslims and Christians in Spain and Sicily."

Condition

The book is in very good condition, with a little dusting to the pages' top edge. The dustwrapper is complete but with some small amount of creasing and rubbing to the spine ends and joints, and a bit faded to the spine.
