First published in 1886 as a 'shilling shocker', Robert Louis Stevenson's dark psychological fantasy gave birth to the idea of the split personality. The story of respectable Dr Jekyll's strange association with the 'damnable young man' Edward Hyde; the hunt through fog-bound London for a killer; and the final revelation of Hyde's true identity is a chilling exploration of humanity's basest capacity for evil. Also published in this edition are Stevenson's twenty fables which includes The Persons of the Tale in which Captain Smollett and Long John Silver step out of the pages of Treasure Island and discuss the role of the author.
Condition
A reading copy. The spine and boards are faded and a bit rubbed, there is some tanning to the page edges and a school prize label to the front pastedown. However, the book remains in strong readable condition.
