This copy was owned by historian Arthur Bryant, with his pencil signature to the ffep. The book also has the bookplate of Anne Powell, historian, anthologist and author on the First and Second World Wars, with her pencil annotation that it was bought at the sale of the contents of Bryant's house, 6 September 1985.
The poetry of Charles Hamilton Sorley who was killed at the Battle of Loos in the Great War in October 1915. The poems consist of his early poetry as well as the small amount he write whilst serving in the army. Also included is a 6 page piece of prose from June 1915 entitled Behind the Lines. The book is illustrated with a frontispiece of the poet in uniform and a smaller school portrait to the rear.
Condition
A good solid copy. There is some light bumping to the corners, and the book has spotted foxing through, and some interesting pencilled annotation (by Anne Powell) but remains in strong readable condition.
