Printing Details

First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 19 × 12.5cm, 112pp.

An anthology of poems inspired by the Easter Rising in Dublin in April 1916, with poems by Roger Casement, Francis Ledwidge, Moirin Cheavasa, Thomas MacDonagh, W B Yeats, Padraic Pearse, Dermot O'Byrne, An Philibin, A.E., Dora Sigerson Shorter, and others. A printed note on the final page reads "As this book was being prepared for the press came the news that "A.E." was dead. His countrymen will value Salutation not least among his poems. To his ready permission for its inclusion in this anthology "A.E." attached but one condition—that he should receive a proof. He died before the proof could be sent to him; but the text has been carefully checked with the edition of Salutation privately printed by Clement Shorter in 1917. Only twenty-five copies were issued; but fortunately the National Library possesses one of these."

Condition

The book itself is in very good condition, the pages with just a little spotted foxing. The dustwrapper is quite a rare survival and is in good order, again with some spotted foxing.
