The story of the S.S. Great Eastern, laid down in 1854, from the finance behind her, the technical problems with her construction and launch, and the toll it took of her designer, Brunel. It was the world's largest iron ship and after life as a passenger ship, she toured ports as a public exhibition. She was converted to lay the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic, and ended up as an advertising ship off Liverpool, and a dance hall and amusement arcade before being broken up in the Mersey.
