The author was a genealogist and editor of Burke's Peerage, and his Tales of the British Aristocracy examines the origins, history, eccentricities, and decline of Britain's peerage. Rather than purely celebrating the nobility, Pine offers a sharp, often dryly humorous and critical analysis of genealogical myths, fraudulent claims to titles, lavish lifestyle shifts, and the social transformations that altered the power of the ruling class.
Condition
A good reading copy. The dustwrapper is tanned to the spine and has an old waterstain to the rear panel. The book remains in strong readable condition but was previously owned by a smoker with some residual tobacco odour. Light tanning to the pages.
