The second part contains a number of historical studies of English cultural developments in such institutions as education and the Press; in the development of a common language; and in the interaction of ideas, literary forms and social history. The book concludes with a general essay analysing the stage we have reached in the development of a common culture in Britain, and discussing the conflicts of value, in theory and practice, to which this development has given rise."

Condition

The book itself is in very good condition with clean pages and secure binding but was previously owned by a smoker and has a residual tobacco odour. The dustwrapper is a little tanned and creased along the top edge of the rear panel, and has two small punctures to the front joint but is otherwise good.
