First edition. Hardback, bound in blue cloth with ornate gilt titling and decoration to spine and upper board. 19.5 × 12.5cm, 290pp + 32pp ads, with with tipped-in frontispiece.

Herbert Byng-Hall was an avid collector of ceramics and china, and after a career in the army, wrote here of his experiences collecting across Europe including Marseilles, Messina, Stamboul, St Petereburg, Berlin etc, with added hints to hunters and the joy of bric-a-brac hunting. The blue cloth binding is a delightful of birds, butterflies, insects and flowers, and with a Greek urn in gilt to the spine.

Condition

This copy is in good plus condition for age. There is a little damage to the head of the spine, and rubbing to the corners but the gilt remains crisp and bright. There is some light marginal foxing to the title page but the main body of text is in good clean condition.
