An autobiographical memoir by British author and former army officer Thomas Washington-Metcalfe (1884–1953) in which he reminiscences about life in the British armed forces from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras through the early 20th century and the people he met—a quick flick shows artist Paul Nash, and publisher Thomas Seccombe (who asked Metcalfe to read a manuscript of Alec Waugh's The Loom of Youth). The book is illustrated with a colour cartoon of the author from 1916 by Arthur Bell.
Condition
The book is in good condition, but with blotchy foxing to the title page and spotted foxing to the page edges. It remains in strong readable condition. The dustwrapper is good but creased along the top edge and rubbed to the corners, and with a review copy slip pasted to the front flap.
As of July 2026, books remain duty-free. The price of the book incurs no extra US import fees.
