The complete works of Flavius Josephus, the Roman–Jewish historian and military leader who lived in the first century Ad (CE). The work comprises of:

I. The Antiquities of the Jewish People, in Twenty Books.

II. The Wars of the Jews with the Romans, from their Commencement to the final Destruction of Jerusalem, by Titus, in the Reign of Vespasian. In Seven Books.

III. The Two Books of Josephus, in Defence of the Jewish Antiquities, against Apion.

IV. The Martyrdom of the Maccabees.

V. Account of Philo's Embassy from the Jews of Alexandria to the Emperor Caius Caligula.

VI. The Life of Flavius Josephus, as written by Himself.

VII. The Testimonies of Josephus, concerning Our Blessed Saviour, St. John the Baptist, &c. &c. &c.

To which is added, A Continuation of the History of the Jews, From the death of Josephus to the present time.

This single volume edition is illustrated with 15 copperplate engravings which are all present as per the plate index, though the frontispiece has been bound in at page 156.

Condition

Whilst the text block remains in good condition with secure binding and clean pages (bar some age-toning), both boards and the backstrip are detached. The front endpaper is also detached. Some rubbing to the backstrip, the boards in good order. The plate index requires fifteen plates (frontis plus 14), all 14 are in the correct place, as mentioned the frontis is bound in at p156, and has a small marginal tear. The plates are in good order but with some light spotted and blotchy foxing.
