L'Art by Rodin is his aesthetic and philosophical testament. Rather than a formal academic treatise written directly by Rodin, the text is structured as a series of intimate conversations transcribed and edited by the art critic Paul Gsell. Gsell met regularly with the aging sculptor at his Villa des Brillants in Meudon, capturing his spontaneous thoughts on technique, nature, draftsmanship, and the spiritual function of art. Illustrated.
