Marika Palaisti was a Greek opera singer (dramatic soprano) active in the early-to-mid 20th century, performing across Greece, Egypt, and Europe. Her career was turbulent; despite praise for her vocal talent early on, her later life was marked by eccentricity, financial struggle, and neglect by the state (which denied her an artistic pension). The foreword to her self-published autobiography was written by Dimitris Stamoulis, appealing to opera lovers to purchase the book to help support the artist in her final years.
