This collects Read's most influential political essays originally written between the late 1930s and early 1950s. Including "The Philosophy of Anarchism" (1940): Perhaps Read’s most widely cited political tract, where he outlines his rejection of the centralizing state in favour of voluntary, organic community structures and "Revolution and Reason" (1953): Published here as the introduction, assesses the failure of Marxist/totalitarian revolutions and arguing for a revolution of values grounded in reason and human scale.

Condition

This copy remains in strong readable condition, but was previously owned by a smoker and so has a tobacco odour which is receding but still evident. The dustwrapper has a tanned and marked spine but it has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
