Wilhelm Freddie was one of Scandinavia's most significant and provocative Surrealists. Heavily influenced by Salvador Dalí and Giorgio de Chirico, his work often merged dreamscapes, eerie anatomy, eroticism, and social satire. In the 1930s, his explicit imagery led to police raids on his exhibitions, confiscation of his works, and a brief imprisonment in Copenhagen for "pornography."
