Printing Details
This is an original fashion sketch, perhaps for a leading magazine of the time, showing three ladies at a fitting for fur coats. The paper measures approx. 34 × 40cm, and is in pen, ink, and monochrome ink wash (grisaille).
It dates to the late 1930s, perhaps very early 1940s. The scene is a lady being shown fur coats in a couture showroom. There are three ladies, one seated, one modelling, and a vendeuse. A mannequin stands behind them. The woman seated on the right wears a sharp, double-breasted skirt suit with a contrasting dark collar and a tilted calot or doll hat pinned to her hair.
The artist is unknown.
