Printing Details
This is brief handwritten letter by Charles John Kean (1811–1868), the Irish-born actor and theatre manager, and son of the Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean.
The letter is written on a small piece of notepaper with writing on three sides, and pasted on to a piece of card. The card measuring 10 × 12cm. The letter reads "My dear Miss Walker, I am only just ready to go out. I am ill, very ill. My head aches & my spirits are low & therefore I am quite sure you will not only excuse my non-fulfillment of my promise, but congratulate yourself on an escape from a bore. I must take a long walk or I shall be worse, & so I am now off for King Arthur's Throne. Forgive me, & believe me Sincerely Yours, Charles Kean. Sunday. 21 March 1841"
Condition
Good condition. There is a small corner missing from the first page and a little damage over the word "congratulate" but otherwise a good example of Kean's handwriting.
