A collection of three tales (The Cat-Man; The Witches of Headcorn; and Rigmarole, or, the Search for a Soul) which tell of fairies, good and bad, of evil witches, and of fanciful elves—some friends, some foes to mankind. Lord Brabourne wrote a number of tales about fantasy and fairy folk between 1869 and 1894, with this being one of the rarer titles. The book is illustrated by Linley Samborne
Condition
Fair condition only. very much a reading copy. The blue cloth is rubbed and bumped to the spine, corners and joints, and the pages have patches of foxing and browning throughout. The inner binding is strained in places with pages 211 to 222 nearly detached. The hinges are cracked and there are two previous owner's inscriptions. It remains readable with some gentle handling.
