Printing Details
First edition, first printing hardback in dustwrapper. 21.5 × 14.5cm, xi + 576pp.
Field Marshal William Slim stands alongside Montgomery as the outstanding British field commander of World War II. Defeat Into Victory is his classic account of the Burma campaign: a story of retreat, attrition and final hard-fought victory over the Japanese. Told by a commander always at the centre of events, this is a narrative which captures both the high drama and the harsh reality of war. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 21 maps.
Condition
A very decent copy. The dustwrapper is clean, but with some tanning to the rear flap, and it has been neatly price-clipped. The book has foxing to the pages' top edge, and a very little to the fore-edge and margins but the main body of text is in very good order (one page stands a little proud at the top edge). All maps present and in good condition. Inoffensive gift inscription to ffep.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of May 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
