Three reprints of J G Ballard's Concrete Trilogy, but the first issue with James Marsh's impressive surrealist cover designs.
1. Crash (171pp)—Explores the dark, perverse symbiosis between human sexuality and car technology.
2. Concrete Island (126pp)—A modern, twisted reimagining of Robinson Crusoe, where a motorist becomes stranded in the motorway intersection of a giant highway system.
3. High-Rise (173pp)—Details the rapid psychological breakdown and descent into tribal warfare among the affluent residents of a ultra-modern, self-contained apartment block.
As ever with the remarkable J G Ballard, the above descriptions barely scratch the surface and within each book lies the jagged, subversive architecture of the modern psyche.
Condition
All three books are in good, strong readable condition. The spine are not creased through reading, though Concrete Island has a small horizontal crease. This book also has some corner creasing. The pages have tanning to the margins but otherwise good copies.
