Printing Details
First UK edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 22 × 14cm, vii [1], 55pp.
Gertrude Stein's combination of artistic memoir and aesthetic philosophy. Written in her characteristic, repetitive, and rhythmic prose, the book traces Pablo Picasso’s artistic evolution from his early days in Paris to the late 1930s, while simultaneously positioning Stein as his literary equal—the writer who did for twentieth-century literature what Picasso did for modern art. Illustrated throughout with examples of Picasso's work, with eight of them in colour.
Condition
The book is in very good condition but with some light scattered foxing and some ghosting to the pink cloth through the wrapper. The dustwrapper has some edgewear and a little damage to the head of the spine but has not been price-clipped.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of May 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
