An early and attractive copy of this immensely popular anthology of poetry, prose and music. It was first published in 1924, and this new edition added nearly 200 pages to it. The poetry is themed (Great Poems, Hate Poems, State Poems, and Animal Poems) and runs to nearly 250 pages, other chapters include Travels with a Donkey (on camping out in Britain—hints, recipes etc), bird song at morning (a guide to the dawn chorus), the stars, first-aid, the law and so on. There are blank pages at the rear to add further poems. The endpapers have printed boards for board games.
This edition is illustrated by Albert Rutherston with fourteen full-page decorations in colour.
Condition
This copy is in very good condition. There is spotted foxing to the page edges and a little to the prelims but the main body of text is in good clean condition and with secure binding. The dustwrapper is a little tanned to the spine but has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of April 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
