From the dustwrapper, "A romantic adventure of youth and age, which hovers at times on the border of the supernatural, this being the only way the author could suggest the inner reality he wished to reach. The original title, My Uncle’s a Magician, was abandoned as misleading, because, in the close relation between nephew and uncle, which forms the true theme of the story, there are no other magics than those of affection and spiritual affinity. Yet the title had a meaning: it pointed to something mysterious and perhaps fantastic in the background, and to the adventure itself."
This novel was the first book in Forrest Reid's Tom Barber trilogy.
Condition
A very good copy. The book itself is in very good condition indeed, with clean pages and secure binding. It is free from inscription. There are a few spots of light foxing to the fore edge. The dustwrapper is very good but with a hint of fading to the spine and light spotting to the spine and flaps, and with some tanning to the folds. It has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of April 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
