Undated [1923]. First edition. Full blue leather binding with gilt titling to spine and gilt Christ's Hospital crest to upper board. All edges marbled. 18.5 × 12cm, 206pp.
Edmund Blunden's history of Christ's Hospital, the private school on West Sussex, of which Blunden was an Old Blue. The book charts the school's history from its foundation in London in the sixteenth century through to the relocation to West Sussex at the beginning of the twentieth century. Illustrated with 8 plates.
This copy was presented to a pupil at the school and there is a prize label to the front pastedown. It was awarded to K J Dickens for Latin Hexameters in July 1924, and was given as the Richards Prize.
Condition
This copy is in very good condition. There is a little fading and scuffing to the spine, and a few spots of foxing to the title page and page edges but otherwise a very nice copy. All plates present as per index.
