Printing Details
First edition, second edition. Hardback in dustwrapper, bound in green cloth with gilt titling and design to spine, blindstamped design to upper board, the design repeated to the dustwrapper. 19.5 × 13.5cm, ix + 101pp.
A lovely copy of the second printing of The Winding Stair, one of W B Yeats's most important collections of poetry, and containing some of Yeats's most powerful verse, including "A Dialogue of Self and Soul" and "Byzantium" (the latter being the sequel to Sailing to Byzantium from Yeats's previous book, The Tower).
Condition
A really very good copy indeed. The book is in very sharp shape, negligible bumping to the corners and spine ends, no fading to the boards. There is some spotting to the page edges, and a little tanning and a few isolated spots of foxing to the prelims but the main body of text in very good clean condition, inner binding secure. The book is free from inscription, Blackwell's bookseller ticket to the front pastedown. The dustwrapper has a little tanning to the spine and folds, some very light wear to the spine ends but has not been price-clipped (6/-) and is now within a protective sleeve.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of April 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
