Printing Details
Undated [1928]. Assumed first edition. Small hardback in the original dustwrapper. 17 × 11cm, 187pp.
This book was No 202 in the Readers Library series, which ran from 1924 to 1935. This was an unusual title for them, they would usually publish fiction, pot-boilers and film tie-ins, but have here issued a cookery book. It's full of the usual advice for domestic management, cooking methods and preparation, and recipes and so on.
This copy retains the original wrapper, which even with some loss, is quite a rarity.
Condition
The book itself is in good condition, as usual with Readers Library titles, the pages are tanned and there is a little movement to the inner binding. The burgundy boards are a little rubbed. The dustwrapper suffers loss to the head, middle and tail of the spine (with corresponding fading to the boards), slight wear to corners but the illustrated panels of the front and back remain very attractive.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of April 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
