First published in 1888, this is Charles M Doughty's account of travel in the Middle East and time spent living with the Bedouins during the 1870s. T E Lawrence was a great admirer of this work, as his introduction shows, and he was instrumental in keeping the work in print and to the wider audience he believed it deserved.

Illustrated with fold-out plates and large fold-out map to rear.

Condition

A good reading copy. The boards marked and dulled, the contents a little tanned and with a little weakening to the rear hinge. The fold map with a small tear where bound in but remaining in good order.
