GKC's landmark work of Christian apologetics, written partly as a rebuttal to H. G. Wells’s The Outline of History. While Wells viewed human history through a lens of secular evolution and social progress, Chesterton argues that humanity and Christianity are both unique "exceptions" that cannot be explained away by naturalism. This title played an important part in C S Lewis's conversion.
Condition
A fair reading copy. The spine is faded and there is darkening to the boards' fore-edge. The text however remains in strong readable condition, though with a little light loosening to the binding at the title page and a neat previous owner's inscription.
