Printing Details

This is an album of hand-written camp fire songs, some with hand drawn illustration. It is a normal old scrap album / notebook with blank pages, measuring 23 × 17.5cm, and 63 pages have been used which is little under half the book (the remainder remains blank). The unknown previous owner had put a paper cover on and drawn the camp fire but this is now quite worn and has lost its spine. Undated but could be 1920s / 1930s.

Although this is called camp fire songs, it is as much a collection of poems and lyrics. It opens with W H Davies's Leisure, and then on to Luther's Cradle Hymn, The Pilgrim Song, Yodelling Song, Gypsy Song, Now Robin, Lend me Thy Bow, Abide with Me, Yankee Ship, Brahms's Lullaby, The Swiss Chalet Song, and so on. The handwriting is nice and neat but quite stylised in places, the illustrations (where present, they aren't on every page, about just under half) are charming.

Condition

As mentioned, the paper handmade cover is in tatty shape but the contents are good plus, with secure binding and clean pages.
