This is a rare original invitation printed on card, from His Excellency Khwaja Nazimuddin, Governor-General of Pakistan to a garden party in Karachi on Sunday, 25th February 1951. It was issued to Squadron Leader P L Kelly who had been seconded from the RAF to the Royal Pakistan Air Force. The crest on this invitation is the official emblem used by the Governor-General of Pakistan between 1947 and 1956, containing the crescent and star, and Pakistan written in Urdu.
Khwaja Nazimuddin was the second Governor-General of Pakistan (succeeding Muhammad Ali Jinnah). Later that same year (October 1951), he would become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Governor-General's House (now the Sindh Governor House) in Karachi is a historic building that served as the centre of power while Karachi was the national capital.
