Printing Details

First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 19 × 12.5cm, 189pp.

This is the fourth story about Juliet Buckingham, her young brother Simon, and their friend Charles Renislau, the son of a famous violinist. Most of the adventure happens in London, and readers who live there can explore Chelsea, Hampstead and even the dingy streets round the East India Docks.

The ‘Palace’ in the story is an old house on the edge of Hampstead Heath, in which the three young people stay with their Uncle whilst the artist owner is abroad. They soon find a clue which suggests that the house may contain treasure hidden by a highwayman, but they encounter an old enemy—and two new ones—who are also hot on the trail. Simon finds the treasure but he and Juliet and Charles have some exciting and frightening experiences before they are able to restore it to its rightful owner.

Condition

The book itself is in good plus condition, though with a previous owner's inscription in red biro (and a previous price of 10p!) but otherwise the binding is secure and the pages are clean bar a few spots to the fore-edge. The dustwrapper is a bit rubbed to the edges, corners and joints and has been price-clipped but otherwise good.
