A single issue of the Catholic journal The Month from 1956. Of chief interest in this one is a 14 page article titled "The Problem of Borley Rectory" by E I Watkin, in essence it is a review of The Haunting of Borley Rectory by Dingwall, Goldney, and Hall who sought to debunk the claims made by the famous psychic researcher Harry Price. Watkin tries to give a more balanced view although he's pretty anti-Harry Price, positing that many witnesses were "primed" to see ghosts because Price gave them a handbook of previous sightings before they even entered the house or that much of the "poltergeist" activity is attributed to the house's inhabitants—specifically Marianne Forster, who may have faked events to deal with personal frustrations, or the Smiths, who later admitted they mostly heard rats and local gossip. However, Watkin believes Dingwall et al were too dismissive of the haunting and events and that they couldn't explain everything and there might still have been a small "core" of genuine paranormal activity.
