Printing Details
This is a small album containing descriptions and hand-drawn and hand-coloured images of the Crowns and regal paraphernalia of the Europe.
The album measures 12.5 × 16cm and is 38 pages, and illustrated recto only. It is post 1952 but probably not long after that, and the author is unknown, but juvenile. However, the drawings are incredibly accomplished and the whole effort is very neat.
The book begins with the crown of William I and Matilda, with William's orb, through William II, Henry I, Stephen, Henry II, Richard I, Berengaria through to Queen Victoria. Then it moves on to Scottish royalty (the Scottish crown, sceptre and sword of state), then the cap of Monomakh of Russia, the Papal Triregnum and the Holy Roman Empire, Lombardy and Italy, Austria and Hungary, Bulgaria and Rumania, ending with Bohemia and Denmark with more in between. Finally there is a hand drawn map and a written list of the Kings and Queens of England (ending with Elizabeth II). Each page has 2 or three illustrations and most with a written description.
Condition
Good condition. The inner binding is weakening with some taped repairs but the pages are clean and this remains a rather charming item.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of January 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
