Full title: An Autobiographical and Full Historical Account of the Persecution of Hamlet Nicholson in his Opposition to Ritualism at the Rochdale Parish Church, also an Account of his Work in the Conservative Interest from 1832 to 1892, together with Other Personal Narratives.
An autobiography of Hamlet Nicholson, detailing his life as a 19th-century religious and political activist. A large part of the book is dedicated to Nicholson’s staunch opposition to the rise of Ritualism (High Church practices) within the Church of England. He provides a first-hand account of his struggles at Rochdale Parish Church, his conflicts with the Vicar and church officials, the tension between traditional Protestantism and newer ritualistic practices, and the persecution he felt due to his beliefs. He also describes his work with the Conservative movement, with involvement in local elections. And if that wasn't enough, in 1871 he was noted for manufacturing a patent rubber compound cricket ball.
