A rare first printing of the first issue of Deucalion, a short-lived but influential post-war Spanish poetry journal. It was founded and edited by Angel Crespo and ran from 1951 to 1953, it was published avoiding censorship in the strict Franco regime but was forced to close for refusing to print the Francoist symbol of yoke and arrows to the rear cover. The masthead was drawn by Gregorio Prieto.
This first issue includes works from the Generation of '27 and the Generation of '36, as well as contemporary Spanish language poets, and along with black and white illustrations by contemporary Spanish artists. Contents:

Condition
This copy is in very good condition for age. There is some tanning and fading to the covers edges, and a few small marks to the rear cover, the biggest of which has gone through lightly to the final page illustrations. The contents are in very good condition, though with some very light spotted foxing to the page edges. A very good copy.
