First edition. Large hardback in dustwrapper. 31.5 × 22.5cm, 212pp.
"It is only in the present century that Piero della Francesca has come to be recognised as one of the greatest artists who ever lived. For the first time an English scholar and art critic of the highest distinction has made a study of this master, which take its rank among the classics in the literature of art. Sir Kenneth Clark, in a brilliantly written interpretation of the master's work, describes the character of Piero's imagination, colour and design, and brings it into relation with his researches in perspective." With 219 reproductions, of which seven are in full colour.
Condition
The book is in good readable condition though a little musty. The dustwrapper is scuffed to the edges with a faded spine. There is also a few small scuffs and dents to the spine of the wrapper. A good reading copy.
