Printing Details
A 1940s painted parchment diary from the Second World War, with a previous owner's gift inscription which reads "To Ruth with love from Philip, December 5th 1944". It was possibly bought as a souvenir by a soldier of British Army who liberated Florence in August 1944.
The diary was published by Giulio Giannini of Florence. The boards are covered with parchment which has a simple painted design to the front cover. The diary is titled "Nulla dies sine linea (No day without a line)" and is the sixth edition. It consists of three days per page and is interspersed with tipped in colour illustrations from the great painters of the Reniassance along with a literary quotation. It measures 13.5 × 9.5cm.
Condition
The diary is unused and the only sign of previous ownership is the gift inscription. The parchment is a little marked with one small stain to the front. There is some light age-related tanning to the pages but otherwise this remains an attractive diary.
