An early collection of poetry by Samuel Looker, written between 1913 and 1916. He was a conscientious objector in the Great War (he was a member of the Hackney No-Conscription Fellowship and instead was given forestry work). After the war, he continued to work as a poet and he became an important editor of the works of Richard Jefferies. The poems in this volume are lyrical and gentle, with the Great War encroaching towards the end of the book.
Condition
A good copy. There is a handwritten quotation from Looker by a previous owner to the ffep, and the owner's name repeated to the title page. Tanning to endpapers, a little rubbing to the boards but remaining in strong readable condition.
