A rare late Victorian issue of the Royal Horticultural Society's Journal for 1897 and 1898. The first half of this issue is a large collection of articles and presentations, including:
Microscopic Gardening by Prof Marshall Ward,
Physiology of Pitcher Plants by S H Vines,
Dessert and Cooking, Apples, Pears, and Plums,
Persian Cyclamen by W Iggulden,
Curiosities of Orchid Breeding by C C Hurst,
Depth at Which Plants Occur in the Soil by Prof. F W Oliver.
The second half contains are extracts from the proceedings of the Society, including reports from the Scientific, Fruit, Floral, and Orchid Meetings, a deputation to Shrewsbury, donors of plants etc, and with occasional illustration (some fold-out).
Condition
The binding is a little dull, occasional marking to the cloth Some age-toning to the pages but the inner binding is secure and the books remains in strong readable condition.
