First edition. Hardback, bound in the original red cloth with gilt titling to spine. 19.5 × 12.5cm, 363pp.

Signed and dated to the ffep Edward Sackville-West (dated Jan 19th, 1926).

Edward Sackville-West's first novel. Considered to be autobiographical as it describes the family life in a large rambling country house and the tempestuous and turbulent relationships between the parents and four siblings, relationships which are given greater intensity with the addition of two outsiders.

Condition

A fair to good copy of a very rare signed title. The red cloth is slightly faded to the spine, with some old water splashes. There is rubbing and bumping to the boards' edges. The inner binding is secure, the pages tanned with scattered foxing throughout but remaining in strong readable condition.
