This is a letter of condolence sent by Buckingham Palace, with the King's printed stamp, after the death of Lt.-Cdr. Henry Thomas Robert Bonham who died 8th June 1940 after wounds received at Narvik in 1940 whilst serving about HMS Fleetwood.

His mother's name has been typed to the base of the letter using her husband's rank (Lt.-Col C C Bonham, this was Camile Claire Bonham, nee Olivier). The casualty was the grandson of Admiral Charles Wright

The letter measures 19 × 12cm, and is printed to one side only.
