A fantasy set in Edwardian London. The story is of Olive and her brother Tony, who go out at night to see what the city is like when everybody is at home in bed. They find that on the stroke of twelve the statues and the people in the poster pictures come to life and step down from their hoardings and pedestals, and become leading citizens in the fantastic romance that is played out in the streets, at the British Museum, and on Primrose Hill betwixt midnight and dawn. Illustrated by Tom Browne, a popular cartoonist and artist of the time.
Condition
Poor. Very much a reading copy. Whilst the text is in good condition and readable, the binding is poor. The rear joint in particular is open and the board hanging on by the webbing. The front hinge is also very worn. There is loss to the head of the spine at the rear joint. But, as said, the contents remain well-bound and quite clean.
