A selection from the Jataka tales, the large collection of Buddhist morality stories in which the Buddha recounts some of his past lives on his long road to enlightenment, in both human and animal form. This edition contains twenty-nine tales, such as The Crab and the Elephant, The Monkeys and the Ogre, and The Valiant Dwarf, and have been rewritten for a younger readership. Illustrated with eight pen and ink drawings in silhouette style by Arnold Hall.
Condition
A good reading copy. The spine is faded and mottled, and the boards a bit rubbed and bumped. The contents are in strong readable condition, and with the ownership signature and pencil annotations to the index of folklorist Francesca Claremont.
