There is an interesting school prize label to the front pastedown. This copy was awarded in 1906 to a pupil at the Richmond County School in Surrey, and was presented by Sir J W Szlumper. James Szlumper was an important British engineer who was Chief Engineer on a number of key railway engineering projects in the Victorian era.
A study of some historical figures of science (Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton etc), and the fields in which they worked. Tends to lean heavily to astronomy, but also includes physics etc. Illustrated throughout.
Condition
Good condition. The leather is rubbed and worn at the spine ends, and lightly to the joints and corners. Inner binding in good condition, pages clean, if a hint of age-toning.
