Naomi Mitchison covers the dark ages from the eighth to the twelfth century, from Iceland and Greenland, with such stories as Erik the Red and Thorfinn and golden-voiced Gudrid, the first white woman to have an American-born baby. She takes us by the West Way, through the Pillars of Hercules to Rome with the Viking ships, and by the East Way down the Dnieper with the Varangian traders.
Condition
A very good copy, with some sun-fading to the wrapper's spine and tanning to the page edges, but otherwise remaining in strong readable condition.
