First edition thus. Small hardback, rebound in half-leather with green moire covered boards. Five raised bands and contrasting title label to spine. Page edges decorated with speckled dye. 17 × 10.5cm. 272pp.

Published in Arber's English Reprints series. Tottel's Miscellany, first published in 1557 by Richard Tottel, was the first printed anthology of English poetry. It consisted of 271 poems, none of which had ever been printed before, many published posthumously and including the works of Henry Howard, Thomas Wyatt and Nicholas Grimald.

Condition

Very good condition for age. Some light rubbing and surface wear to leather corners, light spotted foxing to prelims but remaining in strong readable condition.
