Quite a scarce novel of the French Foreign Legion. "This tense, dramatic story deals with a feud between two brothers who quarrelled violently about Cecile, an artist's model. When Tom Clifford is found apparently murdered in his brother's studio in Paris, all the clues and circumstantial evidence point to John as a murderer. John Clifford is sentenced to life imprisonment on the famous Devil's Island, while Cecile sets to work to try to prove his innocence. After many thrilling adventures he escapes from Devil's Island and finally joins the Foreign Legion at Marseilles. His adventures with the Legion prove even more exciting than the days on Devil's Island, until he finds happiness at last when the murder charge is finally cleared." Set in Paris, Devil's Island, the Sahara, Tunis, and Paris again.
